In 1996, Nintendo and Square Soft (developer of the famous Final Fantasy series, now known as Square Enix) teamed up to bring Mario into the RPG genre. The first entry released on the Wii U in 2015. Super Mario Maker is a Mario Level creator inspired by Mario Paint.
